Principal’s Advisory Board Jerry Sanders jerry.sanders@docoschools.org The purpose of the Principal Advisory Board is to bring parents, school employees, students and community members together to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other's perspectives and share ideas for increasing student achievement and performance. | Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Bakari Bryant bakari.bryant@docoschools.org This club is the largest Christian sports organization in America. It focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. FCA is open to all grade levels and meets every Wednesday morning at 7:45 AM for a student-led devotion or speech. |

Whether it be through a deep dive into European nations, cooking and trying dishes across Asia, or listening to the music of South America, International Club members will meet new people, learn new foreign languages, celebrate new holidays, and expand their horizons. | Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Khadijah Ali khadijah.ali@docoschools.org Bakari Bryant bakari.bryant@docoschools.org Jasmine Andrews jasminelandrews@docoschools.org The student-athlete advisory committee is comprised of student-athletes representing each of the athletic sports. The SAAC's roles are to: promote communication between athletics administration and student-athletes, generate a student-athlete voice within the school, build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams, and organize community service efforts and to promote a positive student-athlete image on campus. |
Mock Trial Team James Hubbard james.hubbard@docoschools.org Mock Trial is an activity where you get to be a part of a team that simulates an actual lower court trial. Students participate in rehearsed trials to learn about the legal system in a competitive manner. Your role in Mock Trial depends on what part of the trial you are acting out, and you’ll get to compete on a local and possibly regional level. | Academic Decathlon Antonio Laidler antonio.laidler@docoschools.org Academic Decathlons are competitions where students are tested in a variety of academic subjects via multiple choice tests, performance events, and an essay. You get to work in a team, and you can compete against other teams and schools. |
Georgia SkillsUSA Debbie Williams debbie.williams@docoschools.org Georgia SkillsUSA members participate in local, state, and national activities provided through trade and industrial, technical, and health occupations courses and programs. The mission of SkillsUSA is to develop leadership skills and workplace competencies that students will need to success in a constantly changing global workplace. The organization provides many opportunities for leadership development and skills training. Competition in over 70 leadership, health occupations, occupationally related, and trade, industrial, and technical contests is offered at the region and state levels, culminating with the SkillsUSA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri, in June. | National Beta Club Cynthia Kerce ctowns@docoschools.org Samantha Fields samantha.fields@docoschools.org The National Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills. Beta holds conventions for students where they can compete in all sorts of academic areas for awards, scholarship, and monetary gifts. Beta is also a service organization that encourages high moral character and provides some of the best student leadership training offered. |

As a member of the yearbook club, you’ll document your fellow students doing amazing things throughout the year, and your reports will be put in print for the entire school to see. By joining the chess club, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new strategies to beat your opponents and the opportunity to practice playing against other students, giving you a fun challenge. Art Club/Art National Honors Society Samantha Fields samantha.fields@docoschools.org The purpose of the art club is to provide students who have an interest in art, an opportunity to explore art and craft forms beyond what is offered in the curriculum. This club promotes imagination and creativity and provides activities for students of all levels of interests and abilities. You do not have to have any prior art experience to join Art Club. This is an excellent opportunity for students to get involved, learn about different art techniques, and simply have fun. The DHS National Art Honor Society is an organization designed to inspire and recognize DHS students who have shown outstanding ability in art. Selected members help bring art education to the attention of our school and community by participating in art shows and contests, and volunteering in art-related activities that benefit our school and community. | Delta Gems/Embodi Seqaous Walker-Williams seqaous.walker@docoschools.org The Delta GEMS goals are: to instill the need to excel academically; to provide tools to enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success; to assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for their futures in high school and beyond; and to create compassionate, caring, and community-minded young women by actively involving them in service learning and community service opportunities. The Delta GEMS framework is designed to provide specific skills that develop a CAN DO attitude through interactive lessons and activities that provide opportunities for self-reflection and growth. EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence) is a national program sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public-service sorority. The purpose of the program is to focus on improving the plight of the African-American male. |

Activities may include crafts, cooking, movies, and field trips while promoting cultural diversity. | Trojan Tribune Newsletter/Newspaper Katrina Towns katrina.towns@docoschools.org For students interested in journalism, there’s no better extracurricular than contributing to your high school newspaper. High school newspapers cover topics ranging from the arts and sciences to current events and from school-related stories to editorials. Working for a school paper gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of interests while developing your voice and writing skills. In addition, it’s possible to obtain editor roles for your high school newspaper, giving you more of a say in what makes it into the paper and school website. |

Through debate, you’ll have the opportunity to compete locally, regionally, and nationally in a variety of events that span from acting to intense 45-minute debates.
